Proper way of using eGo-C

Some consumers have complained about leaking around the atomizer. We have several possible causes and solutions. First possible cause may be how the user inhales when using the tank system. The tank system was designed to have liquids flow only when the user inhales. If you hold a full tank cartridge up, you will see the liquid does not flow out. This is because the size of the hole and the surface tension of the liquid prevents it from flowing out. 


However, when a person inhales, it pulls liquid out of the tank. If a person inhales strongly or very quickly, it pulls lots of liquid out of the tank and the atomizer doesn’t have enough time to vaporize all of it. This leaves excess liquid on top of the atomizer. As the user continues to vape, this excess builds up and eventually leaks out around the atomizer. To solve this problem, first blow the excess liquids out of the atomizer cone. Then, try vaping again, but do not inhale too strongly or quickly. Another possibility is the user inhales but does not press the atomizer button quickly or long enough. The result is liquid will come out but not be vaporized. As you continue to use it, excess liquid builds up and starts to leak. 

The solution is to make sure you press the button as you start to inhale and press long enough to make sure all the liquid is vaporized. One other possibility is the tank cap is damaged. If you take the tank cap off often there is a chance of damaging that part of the lid. If part of the lid is damaged and liquid can come out of that damaged part, then when you inhale more liquid than the atomizer can burn will come out and eventually the excess will leak. The solution is to check for damaged cartridges and replace them if damaged. Also make sure the tank is pushed fully into the atomizer. If there is a space, excess liquids can build up there also

Prove Effective

E-Cigarettes Prove Effective for Smoking Cessation
The scientific foundation for tobacco harm reduction is well established.  My comprehensive reviews of the evidence in 2006 (here) and 2011 (here) were based on 279 articles published primarily in medical and scientific journals.  Dozens more articles were published in the past year.

Tobacco prohibitionists remain blind to this evidence.

On September 11, the Oklahoma House of Representatives’ Public Health Committee convened a hearing on tobacco harm reduction.  Daniel McGoldrick, Vice President for Research at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, told legislators that “Tobacco harm reduction is a complicated and risky strategy that currently lacks an evidence base…”

A particularly vulnerable target of anti-tobacco forces is the e-cigarette, which has been on the market for less than a decade. Even in that short time-frame, scientific studies have emerged to put the lie to “no evidence” charges.  For example, a clinical trial conducted at Italy’s University of Catania and the UK’s University of Southampton (available here) concluded that “…the e-cigarette can help smokers to remain abstinent or reduce their cigarette consumption.  By replacing tobacco cigarettes, the e-cigarette can only save lives.”

Lead author Riccardo Polosa and colleagues enrolled 40 healthy adult smokers who were not interested in quitting into a prospective trial where they were invited to use e-cigarettes with 7.4 mg cartridges at no cost over 24 weeks.  The authors note that “…no emphasis on encouragement, motivation and reward for the smoking cessation effort were provided…”  Twenty-seven participants completed all study visits.

One-third (n=13) of the participants reported a sustained 50% reduction in the number of cigarettes smoked, from 25 per day at enrollment to six per day at completion.  Further, nine participants had completely quit smoking, with six still using e-cigarettes at the end of the study.

These reports were confirmed by testing carbon monoxide levels in exhaled air.  High levels were measured in all smokers before the study; levels at study’s end confirmed little or no smoking.

Few side effects, including mouth and throat irritation and dry cough, were seen, mostly at the beginning of the study; they were not present at study completion.

In summary, this small clinical trial from Italy demonstrates that use of e-cigarettes resulted in smoking reduction or elimination in 55% of smokers who did not intend to quit.  The evidence base is solid and growing.

Dennis Quaid has a new interview with Now Toronto to promote his upcoming movie ‘At Any Price’, which just premiered at the Toronto International Film festival.  Quaid talks about quitting smoking, his new movie, and making smaller movies away from the studio system.

When asked about using an E-cig during the interview and whether it works, Quaid replies, ““It works for me.”

‘At Any Price’ is directed by Rahmin Bahrani, who is considered one of the best art house directors of this decade.  Quaid talks about watching all of Bahrani’s films, and says, ““The boy in Chop Shop is about 13, and he's a non-actor.  He gives this incredible performance. (I said) if you can get a performance out of me like that, that’s what I want to do.”

He also adds that this is a smaller film, saying, “Small stories. It’s something that you don’t find in the business anymore. Movies have mostly gone to big tent poles that the studios are making. This is a film that is about something.”

Quaid has most recently leaned away from making big-budget movies, and has been making smaller, character oriented films as well as going back to television. He is set to appear in the new TV series ‘Vegas’.

Earlier this year JoyeTech came out with the new eGo-C, the most advanced electronic cigarette now available on the market.  It has quickly become a great seller.  So, what’s so good about the new eGo-C?  Is it just an updated version of the venerable eGo-T?  Is it something better?  Will it save you even more money?  Is it a better e smoke than the rest?

JoyeTech eGo brand has been the staple of electric cigarettes.  The brand has been rebranded and sold under various names by varied collections of e cigarette retailers.  Sold all over the world, eGo is the number 1 brand in the world.

eGo-C shares some similarity with the eGo-T.  It has similar dimensions, a tank mouth piece that holds approximately 1 ml of e-liquid, and uses regular eGo batteries with the 510/eGo connection.  The tank-mouth piece is the same design, clear with a flat, whistle-like tip and can be used with the eGo-T.  The similarity appears to end there.

Revolutionary Atomizer Design

The heart of the revolutionary design is the new two piece atomizer design and the integrated cone.  The new evolution of the eGo-T has an atomizer that consists of two parts, the atomizer head and atomizer body.  This gives the user of the e smoke the ability to change just the atomizer head, thus saving the consumer even more money over cigarettes.

Disassembly of the eGo-C’s atomizer was slightly difficult due the base and atomizer being screwed in tight from the factory.  Once off, replacement and reassembly of the atomizer, atomizer body and cone was a breeze.  The atomizer head features the new vertical atomizer.  It is basically a vertical, hollow, angle-cut steel post with a wick through the post, similar to the second-generation atomizers.  If you are still using the nickel-net or steel mesh types of atomizers, you need to definitely upgrade your electronic smoking device.

Does this mean that the atomizer needs to be replaced more often or not as durable as the old standards?  It doesn’t appear to be the case with the new eGo-C.  During testing of the eGo-C by the author, the electronic cigarette from Joyetech works as well as the eGo-T.

Performance

Although doesn’t give off as much vapor as the dual-coiled atomizer, this is a slight upgrade from the eGo-T in respect to amount of vapor and throat-hit per drag.  The set-up works pleasantly well.  The unit was tested with repeated, quick, successive vaping without any noticeable decrease in amount of vapor or the atomizer drying out.

Battery life for the eGo-C is typical of most eGo 650 mAh battery.  Doesn’t appear to use more power than the eGo-T and lasts a quite a long time.  As with previous eGo models, this unit also comes with the battery shut-off mode.  The mode allows the user to switch the battery off so it does not accidentally turn on in your purse or pocket.  5 quick and successive clicks of the manual battery button turns it on and off.  The battery is not of a pass-thru design but rather the old fashion 510 screw-in connection to the charging cable.

The kit also came with a functional, basic pouch to carry your eGo-C around.

Conclusion

The eGo-C is a great step in the right direction, saving the consumer money and going green by reducing what needs to be replaced.  Sort of like getting a new engine when you only need to replace the spark plugs.  In this case, you just replace the small atomizer head instead of the entire assembly which is the case with eGo-T.  Generally, the new, advanced eGo-C was an improvement over the eGo-T.  Like other EGO products, eGo-C parts are backwards compatible with eGo atomizers, cartridges and accessories. So you can use your eGo-T atomizers with eGo-C’s and vice a versa.

Did not experience any leakage during the testing but not counting on it.  Minor condensation of the e-liquid in the mouth piece was observed during testing but did not detract from the use of the electronic cigarette.

Overall, the eGo-C out performs the eGo-T in terms for cost-of-ownership and vaping experience.
